Become a member of Joints in Motion, the Arthritis Foundation's athletic training program. On behalf of 46.2 million people, you will raise funds and awareness to fight arthritis, the nation's number one cause of disability. We provide the training and send you to great cycling events around Puget Sound. And together we will help improve the quality of life for millions of men, women and children with arthritis.
Ride a Century
The Cycling for a Cure training program is designed to guide people of all ages and fitness levels through an extensive training program to complete a long-distance bike ride. This program caters to novice riders training to finish their first 100-mile ride, or "century", as well as intermediate riders doing multi-day events.
Our seasoned cycling trainers offer 12-16 week training sessions that include detailed training schedules, weekly group rides, and personalized support to increase endurance and improve riding strategy. In addition, you will have the opportunity to attend clinics to learn more about important subjects such as proper bike fit, nutrition and the importance of stretching.
Travel to an exciting location
As part of your fundraising goal, you'll attend the Tour de Kitsap, Ride Around Puget Sound, and/or an exclusive ride from North Bend to Cle Elum along the scenic John Wayne Trail. On the day of the event(s), you'll be provided with food at break stops, mechanical assistance, and sweep vehicle support.
We handle the details so all you need to worry about is getting in shape, raising funds for arthritis research, and experiencing the excitement of traveling to a great location.
Help raise funds to prevent, control, and cure arthritis
The perceptions about arthritis vary, but the numbers don't lie:
- Arthritis is one of the most prevalent chronic health problems and the nation's leading cause of disability
- 46 million Americans have doctor-diagnosed arthritis and chronic joint symptoms
- 300,000 people with arthritis are children
- Arthritis costs the US economy nearly $128 billion annually in lost wages, medical expenses, and other related costs
- There are more than 100 forms of arthritis
Your participation in Joints in Motion enables you to honor someone living with arthritis, increase awareness of this disease and raise much-needed funds for research, advocacy initiatives and programs to improve the lives of people with arthritis.
